Who are ya ?
Tired And Weary is the NEW home of the USA branch of the Birmingham City Supporters Club.
The goals set for this newly founded venture are two-fold. The first objective is to bring together every North American Bluenose in order to share our common passion, Birmingham City Football Club. The second goal is to try to bridge the gap between the North American fans, who can only really catch a glimpse of the action every so often, and the local Blues faithful who have all the action and information at their fingertips.
Admittedly, in the world we live in today, watching the Blues from afar is now easier than it has ever been before thanks to Satellite TV and the Internet, and sometimes, North American fans have the luxury of being able to watch more live matches than somebody sitting at home in Acocks Green! However, unless you have smelt the aroma of Hot Pies and Bovril as you walk up the Coventry Road, jostled for a position at the bar in the Tilton Road, felt the hairs on the back of your neck tingle as ‘The Tamperer’ rings out, or heard 50,000 Blues fans singing ‘Keep Right On’ at Wembley Stadium, there is truly NOTHING is the world like actually being there!
Here at Tired And Weary.com, we can’t replicate what it feels like to stand on a dark, windy, wet terrace in Barnsley on a cold, wintry Tuesday night … but we will at least try !
Why Tired And Weary?
Tired And Weary.com has been in existance since around 1998 and is a well established 'name' amongst Birmingham City's unoffical web-sites. Before that, the fanzine 'Tired And Weary' was a groundbreaking publication from the mid 1980's, a true pioneer for fans opinions and voices in the Ken Wheldon / pre-internet days. Although we carry the same name, the fanzine and web-site are not connected.
The idea to set up a web-site for the USA Branch of the Birmingham City Supporters Club had been floating about for some years. It was only when I tried to register the name 'www.bcfcusa.com' and found out that it belonged to the Brechin City USA Supporters Club, did I truly comprehend that if Brechin City can have a web-site, then so should Birmingham City !
Updating the original Tired And Weary had become a little too much work, but many of the features of the old site, such as the Player, Managers, Kits and Season Index have been retained for this site, ensuring that the site will still appeal to the majority of Blues fans.
What’s next ?
I have been contacted by many fans from across North America, and I’m in the process of getting back to them and setting up some sort of ‘network’. There names will be added to the ‘Member’s List’ very soon. In addition, there have been some local Blues fans who have shown interest in helping me get this off the ground, as well as official contact from the club. There will no cost or membership fee to join Tired And Weary.
Plans for the future of Tired And Weary include a possible sponsoring of a player, trips to St.Andrews and exclusive Tired And Weary / USA Supporters Club merchandise.
